Meet Sunshine!
Sunshine is HART’s June Cat of the Month—and it’s also her birthday month! She will turn 13 years old on June 16th, and her biggest wish this year is simple and heartfelt: to finally find her forever home. She is our longest-term resident at the shelter—having waited a whopping 500 days for a home.
Sunshine is a gorgeous long-haired calico with a stunning coat of orange, black, and white, beautifully blended in a way that makes her truly one of a kind. Petite at just under eight pounds, she has a soft, comforting presence and a deep love for affection—especially for face and chin rubs, which are her absolute favorite. Despite her age, Sunshine still enjoys playtime and will happily join in when toys come out. She also loves “helping” with projects and prefers to stay close by your side, supervising everything you do with devoted attention. When she’s not on duty as your shadow, she can often be found happily soaking up the sunshine in her beloved catio.
Sunshine knows exactly what she wants in life. As a cherished senior, she’s looking to be the queen of her household—no other cats or dogs—so she can enjoy all the love, attention, and cozy space to herself. She also has a strong sense of preferences and won’t hesitate to let you know, very politely but clearly, if something doesn’t meet her standards. Currently, she serves as HART’s adored office “Meownager,” overseeing the gift shop, kitchen, and her favorite sunny spots around the shelter.
To help make June the month Sunshine finally gets her birthday wish, her adoption fee has been reduced to just $30, or $25 for adopters over 62 through HART’s Seniors for Seniors program. 🧡🐾
